An Iraqi claiming to be a prophet extorted SR4 million (Dh4 million) from four Saudi men who sent him the money as a divine sacrifice, a newspaper reported on Tuesday.
The four told court that they have sent him money every year to where he lives in Kuwait since 2003 after they were convinced that he was a messenger of God through his “divine statements” online.
“Years later, they realised they were victims of an impostor. They filed a court case against him,” ‘Sada’ Arabic language daily said.
It said the man was sentenced to five years in prison in 2012, but managed to flee to another country before he was arrested again and sent back to Kuwait.
