Saudi Arabia’s religious police chased and seized a famous Arab female satellite TV presenter after they saw her with several young men riding motorcycles, a newspaper reported on Thursday.
Members of the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice were on a routine patrol in the eastern town of Hufouf when they spotted the presenter riding with the young Saudi men.
"They arrested her and took her to their centre…they later released her on bail after she told them she was preparing a TV programme on young Saudi motorcycle groups,” Kabar daily said.
It did not identify the woman but described her as a “famous” presenter working for a well-known Arab satellite TV station.
Except for close relatives, gender-mixing is strictly banned in public places in the conservative Gulf Kingdom.
