Gauze left inside woman after delivery

A doctor forgot a piece of gauze inside a woman’s abdomen after delivering her in a caesarian operation, a newspaper said on Monday.

The unnamed Saudi woman returned to the private hospital in the eastern town of Dammam three months after the operation and told the doctor that she has been suffering from severe pain in the abdomen, Kabar daily said.

After examination, the doctor realized his mistake and decided to operate on the woman again to remove the gauze, it said.

“Her husband decided to file a complaint to health authorities on this medical error…authorities said they are investigating the case and would take the necessary measures against the doctor.”
