The rebel Houthi militia and forces loyal to now-ousted president Ali Abdullah Saleh killed 1,277 civilians, including133 were children and 65 women, in Taiz Governorates between the onset of the war and the end of December 2015, the Yemeni Coalition to Monitor Human Rights Violations said in a new report.
The rebels' indiscriminate bombardment of residential areas in Taiz also left 7,626 civilians, including 686 children and 231 women, injured in, the report said.
The rebels also abducted 214 people including 93 activists, 45 politicians and 4 journalists.
The bombardment destroyed the premises of 172 government institutions, including 55 schools and 21 medical facilities.
The report says more than around 1,778 private properties, mostly houses, were destroyed by the rebels who forced more than 9,500 families out of Taiz City to suburban areas.
