An Italian Engineer in Saudi Arabia converted to Islam just less than an hour of a chat with a Moslem scholar during a banquet for local businessmen, a newspaper in the Gulf Kingdom reported on Tuesday.
Giani Morana, 75, joined many other Saudi and foreign engineers for the night banquet in the capital Riyadh without realizing that it could lead to his embracement of a new religion, Alyoum said.
After the meal, he had a 45-minute chat with Sheikh Fouad Al Rashid, head of the Islamic Guidance Centre in Riyadh, the paper said.
"When the chat was over, Morana told Al Rashid he wanted to convert to Islam...he was taken to a nearby Mosque, where he embraced the new religion….Morana had told the Sheikh that he admired Islam during his presence in Saudi Arabia and dealing with Moslem businessmen."
