Kuwaiti police auctioned 13 trained dogs after the end of their services in guarding prisons and confronting riots, a newspaper said on Sunday.

The dogs fetched between KD50 and 655 (Dh665-8,700) each and the highest price was paid for the German shepherd breed, Alwatan said.

“The dogs were bought from Germany and other countries in 2007 and their services have expired,” it said, quoting sources at the prisons department.

Asian woman raped by five men in Kuwait

Five men snatched an Asian woman and raped her as she was walking back home at night in the oil-rich Gulf emirate, a newspaper reported on Sunday.

The woman was passing near a deserted area when the five emerged from behind trees and jumped on her, Al Watan said.

“They took turns in raping her before a Kuwait man who happened to be passing in that area chased them…they fled while the woman was taken to the police station to report the incident,” it said, adding that police mounted a manhunt for the rapists.
