A Kuwaiti passenger aircraft was fired at while flying over the capital and police said the shooting came from a wedding in a nearby area.
The pilot of the jet reported the incident to the airport which phoned the police in Al Ahmnadi area in the capital Kuwait City, the Arabic language daily Al Rai said.
Police rushed to the wedding site on Thursday night and tried to arrest the man responsible for the machine gun firing, it said.
“He fled the wedding, prompting police to chase him. He then jumped out of his car and disappeared behind the houses in the area,” it said.
“But his relative, who staged the wedding, found the man and persuaded him to hand himself over to the police on the next day.”
The paper said police charged the man with jeopardising the safety of the flight but it did not make clear if the plane has taken off or was landing at Kuwait airport when the shooting incident occurred.
