Saudi Police arrested two local men and two Ethiopians accused of turning an underground bedroom in a building into a liquor factory.

Acting on a tip-off, police stormed the building in the Western town of Taif and arrested the four as they tried to escape, ‘Sabq’ newspaper said.

Police found a large quantity of home-made alcoholic drinks, many barrels and bottles, and other stuff used in making liquor, it said, adding that weapons were also seized.

Alcohol is strictly banned in Saudi Arabia and other Gulf Arab countries but non-Muslims have access to liquor at some outlets.
