Maid ends life at Saudi employer's house

An Ethiopian housemaid banged the door and locked herself up in the bedroom at her employer’s house in Saudi Arabia, prompting the family to call the police after she refused to open the door. When police smashed the door, they found her hanging.

Police said they sent the body to the coroner to specify the exact cause of death, adding that it was evident the maid had committed a suicide.

Sabq newspaper said the police also interrogated the family in the eastern province of Qateef to determine the motives for the maid’s suicide.

Saudi man chokes to death while eating

A Saudi man died after he choked while eating, prompting the civil defence to smash the door of his room at his family’s request.

Newspapers said the man had locked himself up to have his dinner alone and that his family phoned the police after failing to open the door.

Doctors said the man was brought dead to hospital in the southern town of Belgarn after choking on food, which blocked his respiratory system.
