Maid found dead in bed

Saudi authorities are questioning a local family after their Indonesian housemaid was found dead in her bed and her body looked very feeble, a newspaper in the Gulf Kingdom reported on Sunday.

Police in the eastern town of Dammam said the maid’s employer informed them about her death, adding that he did not know how she died.

“The maid’s body was taken to hospital for forensic examination as she could have been on a hunger strike because her body looked emaciated,” Shams Arabic language daily said. “Other sources said a criminal act might be involved in the death of the maid, aged over 40 years.”

The paper quoted police spokesman Lt Colonel Ziad Al Rukaiti as saying the Saudi employer, in his 60s, and his wife have been detained pending the completion of forensic examination.
