Maid held for stealing from her employer

A Sri Lankan housemaid waited for her employing family to leave house for a picnic to steal more than $25,000 and electronic items and flee to another city. But she was caught later.

Police said the maid was seized in the western Red Sea port of Jeddah after stealing the money, mobile phones and a laptop from her employers’ house in the central town of Madina.

“She fled to Jeddah with the help of friends…she confessed to the theft and would stand trial,” Okaz newspaper said on Wednesday, quoting police spokesman Brigadier Mohsen Al Radadi.
