Man invites wife to dinner to land in jail

A Saudi man who insisted on taking his wife out for a late night meal ended up in jail after a scuffle with the Gulf Kingdom’s feared Islamic police, a newspaper reported on Sunday.

The unnamed couple have just finished their dinner at a shopping mall in Riyadh and were leaving when they were stopped by members of the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice, the online Alshaudeh paper said.

“They asked him about the woman with him and he replied that she is his wife…but they told him that they have received information that she is not his wife and told him to come with them,” the paper said.

“The man got mad and clashed with them…one of them suffered a light injury in his hand…police later came and dragged the husband to their centre, where he has been there for five days.”
