Man passes Aids to wife 4 months after marriage

A Saudi woman was infected with AIDS by her husband four months after their marriage although compulsory pre-wedding medical tests for couples in the Gulf Kingdom had shown the husband did not have the killer virus.

Upon learning she was infected, the woman rushed to court and filed for a divorce, saying pre-marriage tests showed both of them were healthy.

The woman told the judge in Riyadh that she learned of her husband's infection when he was sacked from his work.
 
"The court granted her a divorce and ordered her to return the dowry (wedding money paid by the groom) to her husband,” Sabq daily said.
 
"I was stunned when I learned that I had the virus,” the unnamed woman told the paper. “I have now been divorced, have returned the dowry and have become a carrier of the AIDS virus.”
