Mascara 'blinds' woman after marriage

A Saudi woman still in her honeymoon lost her sight after adding mascara she bought from a vendor on the street in the Gulf kingdom.

The woman, just under 20 years of age, began to suffer from eye pain and her sight started to weaken before she was completely blinded a week later.

"She used mascara bought from a vendor on the pavement…her sight started to weaken gradually before she became totally blind,” ‘Sabq’ newspaper said, quoting her sister in the eastern Saudi Ihsa province.

She said her sister’s husband has appealed for health authorities to help his wife have treatment so she can restore her sight.
