A 90-year-old Saudi who went missing nearly two months ago while on his way to mosque in his village was found dead in a deserted grassy area, a newspaper reported on Monday.
A local boy who was on his way to school in the village saw the dead body of Jubran Al Qahtani and told his mother, who informed the police, the paper said.
His sons and grandchildren recognized the decomposed body as the old man’s ID, key and other personal items were found in the pockets, it said.
Two months ago, Al Qahtani donned his clothes at dawn and headed as usual to the nearby mosque in Numais village for prayers but he never returned.
Relatives had announced a reward of SR100,000 for any information that will lead to his whereabouts. It was not clear if the reward would still be given to that boy.
Numais is located near the town of Abha, which is situated nearly 2,200 metres above sea level in the fertile mountains of the southwestern province of Asir.
