Kuwaiti policemen should stop adding gel on their hair while on duty in line with an interior ministry decision which also warned the cops against growing their beards.

Interior ministry undersecretary general Suleiman Al Fahd issued the new decision in letters sent to police stations through the oil-rich Gulf emirate, newspapers said.

“Al Fahd told policemen that they should stop using gel in their hair while on duty and to keep their beards shaven…he warned the policemen against growing their beards without a prior permission,” the Arabic language daily Al Anba said.

“He also stressed that all policemen should keep themselves clean and tidy, wear proper and tidy uniform and stop the practice of shortening or tightening their uniforms.”

The paper said Al Fahd issued the decision to ensure the country’s police force “will strictly comply with rules to have a good public appearance and avoid practices that will negatively affect the prestige of the security men.”
