Pilgrim falls off Makkah bridge

An Asian man performing Umrah (mini pilgrimage) in Saudi Arabia died after falling off a high bridge in the holy Muslim city of Makkah, a newspaper reported on Tuesday.

The unnamed man was trying to cross the bridge while performing Umrah rites when he lost balance and plunged down, ‘Sabq’ said.

It quoted medical sources as saying the man died on the spot and said police have opened an investigation into the incident.
