Policeman gets 20 years for smuggling drugs

A Saudi court sentenced a police man for 20 years in jail for smuggling drugs to inmates at a prison in the Gulf Kingdom, the online Arabic language daily Kabar said on Monday.

The prosecution had demanded death punishment for the guard at the prison in the central town of Madina but the judge sentenced him to 20 years in jail, the paper said.

The inmates who had bought the narcotics were sentenced for additional terms of between one and 17 years each, it said.

“The police man had supplied drugs to some inmates many times in return for large sums of money,.”
