Saudi gets 5 years in jail for hitting mum

A Saudi court sentenced a local man to five years in prison and ordered him lashed 2,400 times on charges of hitting his mother and breaking her tooth.

The woman was with her son in the car when he got mad after an argument.

He stopped the car and started to punch her, breaking one of her teeth.
As he drove on, the mother screamed when she saw a police patrol on the road near the western Saudi town of Makkah.

“Police arrested the man. In court, the judge considered it as a serious crime and decided to give him a severe punishment,” Sada daily said.

“He sentenced the man to five years in prison and ordered him lashed 2,400 times, including 60 lashes over 40 sessions.”
