Saudi poet dies during poem recitation

A well-known Saudi poet died on stage while reciting poetry during a ceremony to honour former Saudi information minister Abdul Aziz Khoja, also a poet.

Mohammed Jawjarji, 80, was reciting his latest poems in a packed hall in the Western Red Sea port of Jeddah when he collapsed and died.

“He has just recited two poems when he collapsed and died of a heart attack,” the Arabic language daily Sabq said.
