Saudi radio presenter celebrates 'divorce'

A well-known Saudi radio presenter marked her divorce with a party attended by many friends and posted on social networks, saying her divorce is a new "birthday".

Khadeeja Al Wael, a newscaster at the MBC FM radio, said she posted news of the party on her Twitter page to show she is delighted to be divorced from her husband.

Newspaper said the party was attended by a large number of guests and it involved songs and dancing.

“Some viewers criticised her for this party saying this is an alien phenomenon to the Arab society,” the Kuwaiti daily 'Al Anba' said.

“Khadeeja said her divorce represented a new birthday to her after five years of marriage,” it added without specifying reasons for the divorce.
