A Saudi man and his sister visiting the personnel affairs department in the Gulf Kingdom to process some documents got the shock of their life when they were told by a government employee they died 25 years ago.

When they told him they are still alive, he simply replied they must prove it.

Farhan Aseeri said the employee would not believe that he and his sister are not dead, adding that he demanded that the two must bring documents proving they are alive.

“He told us that we must bring proof that we are the same persons and that we are alive,” Aseeri told the Arabic language daily Sabq.

He said he has been working for the traffic police department in the southern Saudi province of Asir and that he had filed an official complaint about the problem.

Sabq quoted the department’s manager Asir Al Salmi as saying that Farhan has two files at the department.

“One file says he is alive and one says he is dead. We will form a committee to discuss this situation and correct it.”
