A Saudi teacher decided to give his school boys SR20 (Dh20) each to express his delight with a Royal order to pay two-month bonus salary to all civil servants in the oil-rich Gulf Kingdom, a newspaper reported on Wednesday.

Mohammed Al Bateeh said he undertook the gesture to “express his delight and gratitude” for the two-month salary payment ordered by King Salman bin Abdul Aziz just after he replaced late King Abdullah in late January.

The teacher said he also assigned one of the students to act as “finance minister” to prepare a list of the class boys for payment.

“I have decided to pay SR20 to every pupil in the first primary class…finance minister Mohammed Al Ghamdi has been asked to prepare a list of the pupils for disbursement of the funds,” the teacher said in a letter published by Ajel newspaper.
