Sheep bleating attracts thieves

Thieves looking for a fresh victim on the first day of Eid Al Adha in Saudi Arabia were apparently irked by the incessant bleating of a sheep in a back garden of a house at a quiet dawn before realizing the victim is just within their hands.

“I went to perform Eid Al Adha prayers and left my Eid sheep in the back garden,” the sheep owner told police in the eastern port of Dammam. “When I returned the sheep had gone…the thieves did not spare a sacrifice sheep.”

Livestock prices in Saudi Arabia and other oil-rich Gulf countries rocketed ahead of Eid Al Adha this week, with one sheep fetching over $800 in the Kingdom, the price of nearly seven barrels of oil, according to Okaz newspaper.
