A young Omani X-ray technician is the latest in the growing fan club of Dulquer Salmaan – the young upcoming superstar of the Malayalam film industry and the only son of megastar Mammootty.

While celebrity lookalikes and twins always capture media attention, it is social media that spotted the new look alike of the youngest Malayalee superstar from the Gulf region.

Abdul Rahman Mahdhushi, 23, is an Omani citizen working as an X-Ray technician in an Omani hospital, and hails from the Julan Buhsan in the Sharqiya region.

He is gaining instant stardom after he went to Doha to meet an Indian doctor for treatment, who was surprised by his new patient’s similarities with Dulquer Salmaan, the young superstar of Malayalam movie, whose latest movie, Charly, is also rated as a superhit movie.

The Doha doctor who spotted the Dulquer Salmaan lookalike told him about the similarities, especially when he speaks and laughs, and took a selfie that is now going viral on social networking sites.

The Indian media picked up the unique lookalike story of ‘Dulquer’ Abdul Rahman, the new pet name that they attributed to the Omani youth, who did not know about the rising star of Malayalam movies, before the doctor's post went viral.

The real Dulquer.

The doctor has posted a family picture with his patient, which became a sensational post for Keralites in Doha and from there, in other Gulf countries.

Malayalam newspapers and television channels have made him more popular by doing special stories and interviews.

Not only the lookalike, but the doctor who spotted him has become an instant hero on social networking sites, with fans and media sharing and spreading the news.

R J Hash, an Indian RJ of Galleria Entertainment, interviewed the Omani, and told Emirates 24|7: “We contacted him for an interview and he is a very encouraging guy. Except for his traditional Arabic dress, he is a carbon copy of Dulquer Salman.”

“I am very happy with Dulquer Salmaan, and I hope to meet him in Oman or India. I have now seen his movies, especially 'Charly', 'Bangalore Days' and 'Usthad Hotel',” Abdul Rahman, who now introduces himself as Dulquer Abdul Rahman, told Malayalam television channel.

Even though Abdul Rahman has been living in Oman amidst a number of Malayalee friends, nobody could identify his Dulquer Salman features.

He seems to be enjoying the attention and media coverage, just because he looks like a superstar and Malayalees have started hanging around Abdul Rahman for a selfie!
