The Yemeni Journalists Syndicate group have warned that the Houthis have detained 13 journalists at secret detention centres. The Journalists Syndicate says it will escalate its protests until they are released, 'Al Bayan' reports.

The Secretary General of the Yemeni Journalists Syndicate, Marwan Damag, called all organisations concerned in to confront the abuses of the Houthis against journalists, noting that they are more dangerous than mercenaries.

Former director of the syndicate, Abdul Bari Taher, stressed “There is a need to confront violations against press freedom, because it is targeting the community’s right to know the facts.”

Journalist Mahmoud Taha was kidnapped from inside his house three days ago.

Yemeni Journalists Syndicate confirmed that earlier nine journalists were kidnapped and subject to physical, psychological torture and inhumane treatment.
