Woman celebrates her 'freedom divorce'

A Saudi woman invited her friends for a big party at her house to celebrate her freedom, which she gained after her divorce from her husband, a newspaper in the Gulf kingdom reported on Tuesday.

All the 35 guests are also divorced and their present to their friend was a big cake bearing the words :”Congratulations a thousand times our dear and hope you will find another husband….with lots of love,” the online Arabic language daily 'Sharq' said.

The unnamed 40-year-old woman, a hospital employee in the central town of Madinah, had won a divorce case against her husband for his failure to meet her financial needs and provide housing to her. But the main reason is that the husband has another wife, the paper said.

“The woman told court that her ex-husband was not fair to her and was biased for the other wife,” Sharq said.

“She said that just after the court announced its sentence, she invited her friends for a big party to celebrate the occasion on the grounds life with some husbands is like a prison and divorce is freedom.”
