Woman files rape charges against husband

A Kuwaiti woman accused her husband of raping her, saying he told her just after marriage that he had three wives but emerged with four, the maximum limit allowed by Islam at the same time.

A court had sentenced the unnamed Kuwaiti husband for five years in jail but he was acquitted after appealing the verdict.

“The defence lawyer argued that the husband did have four wives but divorced one of them when he married that woman,” the Arabic language daily 'Alanba' reported on Wednesday.

“The woman told the judge that her husband made sex to her while he was married to four. She said this amounted to rape but the lawyer proved that his client was married to three when he married this woman and that he divorced the fourth one, who got married from some one else and had children.”
