A Saudi wife donated one of her kidneys to her husband to save his life after suffering from renal failure. Doctors said the operation which was performed last week was successful while the wife was honoured by a big feast staged by her family for all her village residents.
Mariam Hassan Al Shabaan had told her mother she wanted to donated a kidney to her husband and asked for her blessings.
“What you want to do my daughter is the right thing which should be done by every wife towards her husband,” her mother had told her.
In a report from the eastern Saudi province of Ihsa, Sharq newspaper said hundreds of people were invited for a beef and chicken feast staged by the mother and her sons in their little village to honour her daughter.
“During the feast, the mother and her sons gave Mariam gold gifts to express their appreciation for what she had done for her husband,” it said.
“They then hugged each other and started crying in one of the most emotional scenes in that area…most guests were also seen crying.”
The paper quoted Mariam’s brother Ali Al Shabaan as saying:” What my sister had done is a “powerful and gallant move which reflects the noble ethics we had learned from Prophet Mohammed (peace be upon him).”
