Yemen's deputy army chief meets US envoy

The deputy chief commander of Yemeni armed forces, Lt. Gen Ali Mohsen Al Ahmar, and US Ambassador to Yemen, Matthew H. Tueller, on Monday met to discuss military developments in Yemen where militias continue their rebellion against the legitimate government and the national army.

Al Ahmar praised the United States for its efforts and support for Yemen and highlighted the importance of promoting bilateral relations and enhancing military cooperation between the two countries.

The US ambassador reiterated his country's support for the security, stability and constitutional legitimacy in Yemen and for the need to meet the requirements of transition based on the outcome of the National Dialogue Conference, UN Security Council resolutions and the 2011 Gulf Co-operation Council (GCC) initiative.
