Abu Dhabi Police on Sunday said the number of serious road accidents during the last 10 days of the month of Ramadan and during Eid Al Fitr holidays this year fell to 51 from 55 recorded during the same period last year.

Brigadier Ali Khalfan Al Dhaheri, Director, Central Operations, Abu Dhabi Police, said the number of serious road injuries and deaths during the last 10 days of Ramadan and Eid Al Fitr in 2015 was 12 and 8, respectively, compared to 8 and 6 this year.

Al Dhaheri noted that exceeding speed limits and drivers' lack of attention remain the number one cause of serious road accidents.

He warned that Abu Dhabi Police will not be lenient with those who violate traffic rules.
