Indian cricket fans are outraged. Thanks to the sheer numbers involved, the tweets and Facebook retorts are now the story itself.

The story so far: Sachin Tendulkar all-time cricket great of, was among a star-studded crowd that watched Sharapova at Wimbledon last Saturday.

When asked if she recognised the recently retired batsman, seated next to former English cricket captain Andrew Strauss and football star David Beckham, she reportedly replied that she did not.

The Indian cricket fans went mental – leaving thousands of angry messages on Maria Sharapova's Facebook page after she admitted to not recognising cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar.
