Saudi tragedy: Child sitting with parents in car killed by 'flying stone'

A Saudi man driving his car with his wife and little daughter appeared to have inadvertently re-enacted the film ‘Final Destination’, when a flying stone pierced through the windshield and killed the girl next to him.

When the man decided to overtake a big truck moving slowly in front of him on the road outside the Saudi Red sea port of Jeddah, he definitely had not thought it would be a deadly overtaking for his daughter who was sat between him and her mother.

As he pressed the accelerator and began the overtaking process, the truck laden with building materials apparently hit a stone on the road, sending it flying in the air.

“The stone flew at high speed and penetrated the windshield. It hit the little girl in the right in the head,” the Okaz arabic language daily said.
“The father pressed the accelerator further and rushed to the hospital but his daughter died minutes after arrival,” it added without specifying the girl’s age.

The paper said police arrested the driver and two other workers who were in the truck for interrogation, but they ruled out any criminal act.
