Sheikh Mohammed attends World Endurance Championship

The Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum attended the World Endurance Championship-2016 held in Samorin, Slovakia on Saturday.

Over 135 riders from 46 countries participated in the 160-kilometre endurance race.

Sheikh Mohammed met His Majesty King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of Bahrain, on the sidelines of the Championship.

Sheikh Mohammed and King Hamad discussed activities of the Championship, which featured participation of elite of the world’s riders including the UAE and Bahrain.

They further discussed the importance of continuing to support this great sport.

The Crown Prince of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum led the UAE team.

The UAE team also includes Sheikh Rashid bin Dalmouk Al Maktoum, Sheikh Hamad bin Dalmouk Al Maktoum, Saif Ahmed Al Mazroui and Abdullah Ghanem Al Merri.

Spain were crowned champions of the race.

The riders Jaume Punti Dachs and Alex Luque Moral won the gold and silver medals at the championship, after they finished the race in 06:46:42 and 06:47:32, respectively.

His Highness Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports and Chief of the Bahrain Olympic Committee won the bronze medal registering 6:49:47.

The race was witnessed by a number of sheikhs and senior officials, along with huge number of endurance championship fans.
