Colombo: Two minors were lured by strangers and molested in separate incidents in Sri Lanka over the last week, according to local media reports.
A 42-year-old mason lured an 11-year-old girl with [Sri Lankan] Rs.20 [50 fils] before abusing her, reported ‘Mawbima’.
The suspect had been following the child in the recent past and she had informed her grandmother about the same. On that fateful day, while she was returning home from class, he approached her and gave her the money before leading her to a deserted place to commit the crime.
He has been arrested.
Meanwhile, a 54-year-old man has been arrested for molesting a 14-year-old schoolgirl four months back at a community function.
He was on the run all these months after the victim’s family filed a police complaint.
The teenager is allegedly pregnant.
‘Jilted’ student attempts suicide
Police rescued a 17-year-old schoolgirl from drowning, reported ‘Lanka Hot News’.
She was neck-deep under water in her school uniform, while she was pulled to safety by officers.
She later confessed that she had not heard from her ‘boyfriend’ for two months and thus decided to end her life.
