Baby fell into toilet hole: unwed mom

Colombo: An unmarried Sri Lankan woman from Lozino Estate, Bogawantalawa, surprised her family when she gave birth to a baby in toilet.

Parents of the 24-year-old woman claim they were unaware their daughter was pregnant.

She had gone visiting her uncle and checked into the toilet. Family members had to break open the door, when they heard a baby’s cries.

She told police that she slipped and fell into the toilet hole while giving birth and when she lifted the baby, she fell unconscious.

The new mother and baby are admitted to hospital and are reportedly serious.

Police is now investigating if the woman intended to kill the baby.
