Colombo: A Sri Lankan man who was arrested for molesting his minor daughter has been granted bail.
According to a report in ‘Mawbima’, the accused, a resident of Delgoda area, has been released on a cash bail of [Sri Lankan] Rs50,000 (Dh1,307) and two surety bail of Rs50,000 each.
He was accused of molesting his only daughter, aged 14, on several occasions.
The judge who granted him bail instructed that he cannot stay at home until the case was concluded. Police was ordered to provide a report of his alternate accommodation.
The judge also entrusted the custody of the girl to her mother and asked the accused to pay maintenance to his wife and daughter until the case is closed.
The court adjourned to December for the next hearing.
