Police in Sri Lanka is investigating the allege rape of an Australian university student on a rock in the sea on Thursday, the ‘Lankadeepa’ newspaper reported.
According to the police, the rape took place on Gendawana Rock in the sea near Ambalangoda during an outing by students.
The Australian student had come to Sri Lanka on December 15for an academic project and was a volunteer at a turtle hatchery.
She was visiting the rock by boat with nine other foreign tourists on January 23.
Eight local youths joined them on the boat ride and one of them allegedly sexually assaulted the student when she became isolated on the rock.
Mother helps son to abduct and rape girlfriend
A 38-year-old Sri Lankan woman allegedly helped her son to abduct his underage girlfriend from legal custody and rape her, the ‘Ada’ newspaper reported.
The girl’s grandmother told police that the 15-year-old Grade 10 student of a school in Galle had eloped with her boyfriend.
The girl had been living with her grandma after her mother died when she was a child and her father re-married.
The accused woman has been arrested by the police.
Police officer films naked woman suspect
A police officer in Sri Lanka has been accused of filming a young woman in the nude while raiding a massage parlour.
Police recently raided a massage parlour called 'Thassara' in Kollupitiya and took four suspects into custody.
One of the police officers who took part in the raid forced one of the young female suspects to pose nude and videotaped her using his mobile phone’s camera.
