Infant dies after 3-year-old feeds him

Colombo: A toddler in Sri Lanka fed her infant brother solid food that allegedly resulted in his death.

According to a report in Lankadeep, the 27-year-old mom was busy in the kitchen after having served breakfast to the family, when the tragedy occurred.

 “My son woke up at 6am. He drinks only milk, so I went about preparing breakfast for the family and laid the baby in the cot.”

The woman told the court that she fed her three-year-old daughter some dhosai [rice patties] and she got busy in the kitchen. After a while, she found the little one throwing up.

To her shock, her daughter said that she fed the baby some patties, thinking he was hungry.

She immediately called her husband and rushed the child to the hospital in Moragoda area in Gampaha.

But he was pronounced dead.


Toddler dies after drinking petrol

Colombo: A one and a half-year-old baby - Jothiraj Wipi from the Meemale Division of the Spring Valley Estate in Badulla - died after allegedly consumption petrol, Lankadeep reported.

Police stated that the child’s father had brought petrol in a plastic bottle and after pouring it into his motorbike, he threw the bottle in the garden.

While the child was playing with his older brother in the garden, he picked up the bottle and drank the little petrol left inside it.

The parents, hearing the baby vomit, rushed him to the Spring Valley hospital in Badulla where he was pronounced dead.
