Iron rod cuts through 4-year-old girl’s chest

A four and a half-year old girl have been admitted to the Chilaw district hospital (Sri Lanka) after being wounded by an iron rod.

The rod, used for construction, pierced through her chest, local daily ‘Mawbima’ reported.

The victim has been identified as, Mihindukulasuirya Nimani Thrindi Fernando, a resident of Thoduwawa Lower road, Thoduwawa North.

It is reported that a house was being built in her neighbourhood and the mason had erected several iron rods for concrete construction.

Mihindukulasuirya, while playing had slipped and fallen over an iron rod.

The girl has been rushed to the hospital with the iron rod on her chest.

The rod has been successfully removed after a surgery at the Chilaw hospital and is now stable according to the doctors.

Parents kill new born assuming he was disabled

A new born was killed mercilessly by his parents who assumed that he was disabled.

A labourer and his wife were returning from the hospital with their newborn.

Since, their older son was disabled they assumed that the newborn was handicapped as well.

The husband  killed the child by throttling him and later cutting his leg to make it appear as though the child was disabled.

Sri Lankan Police received a tip off when a passerby found the body of newborn lying isolated.

The man’s dog discovered the body of a child with a missing leg.

Police arrested the child’s parents on grounds of suspicion , where they later confessed to the crime.
