Lover tries to abduct girl in van

A father in Sri Lanka saved his daughter from abduction by some youths by obstructing their van’s movement with his vehicle, the ‘Mawbima’ reported.

The youths beat up both father and daughter before trying to flee with the girl in their van. Police has arrested the youths, aged between 18 to 21, and seized a sword from them.

Police said the girl had an affair with one of the youths and had lived with him for two or three days. But she later left him and returned to her parents.

The attempt to abduct the girl was made in front of the institute where she studied. The father had driven her from home to drop her at the institute.

Her lover, having found the institute where she studied, had waited near it with four of his friends and tried to abduct her in their van after she was dropped there by her father.

The father then obstructed the van with his vehicle, beat the youths with a club and informed the police.

Two youths fled the scene and the other three were due to be produced before the magistrate’s court.
