Mom, daughter tied up, raped in own home

Two unidentified men are on the run in Sri Lanka after they forcibly entered a house at night, raped a mother and her daughter and fled with a necklace belong to the daughter, the ‘Mawbima’ newspaper said.

According to the police, incident happened at around 2am on Wednesday February 18 in Dehimaduwa near Uthuwankanda.

The hands and legs of the mother and daughter, aged 73 and 37 respectively, were tied up before they were raped, the newspaper said.


Police said the suspects entered the house by threatening the women with a knife.


Both the women are being treated at the Mawanella hospital. Police said they have not arrested anyone so far.
