Colombo: A 17-year-old married young pregnant woman severely molested a 7-year-old girl in Thambuththegama area, ‘Sunday Mawbima’ reported.
The victim went to a nearby well with her mother for a bath where the pregnant woman was there. The mother sent the little girl to home with the pregnant woman after the bath. But the woman severely molested the little girl, the victim’s father told police.
Police arrested the accused but she was later released on bail.
The young woman, police said, was obsessed with cheap savaged desires and parents should refrain from handing over children to such people.
Thambuththegama police is investigating the case.
Father shots son over property dispute
Colombo: A 64-year-old father seriously wounded his son, 40, by shooting him over property dispute in Angunakolapelessa area, ‘Sunday Mawbima’ reported.
On the day of incident, the father, who lives with his younger son in the same area, fought with the son again on the property issue and sharing of a paddy harvesting machine.
The suspect also burnt the motorcycle used by the victim and fled the area after hitting the victim with a club and shooting with a gun.
The father confessed after being arrested by Angunakolapelessa police. The gun used in the shooting was found from nearby paddy fields.
The suspect has been remanded until January 29.
