Suspect hails trishaw to rob driver, kills him

Colombo: A man in Sri Lanka hired a trishaw with the aim of killing the driver.

He hailed the vehicle at about 5pm and asked the driver to take him to Beruwala area where he needed to collect some cash, reported ‘Mawbima’.

However, upon reaching the destination, he beat up the driver with a rod and strangled him.

Police is still investigating the case.

However, initial reports reveal that trishaw driver lends money to people on interest and so the suspect would have killed him assuming the driver was carrying huge sums of money with him.

The accused had fled the scene with [Sri Lanka] Rs14,500, which the driver had with him at that time.

The victim was 53-years-old and a father of two.
