Time to end rift with Turkey: Gargash

The UAE believes it is time to end its political rift with Turkey following recent positive signals from President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the UAE Minister of State has said.

Anwar Gargash said the UAE welcomes Erdogan’s remarks and believes that the two countries can build on these comments to tackle the rift caused by differing positions towards the political developments in Egypt.

“The region cannot afford such differences. Egypt is the key to regional stability and its people have determined their future. It is time to surpass our disagreements over Egypt,” Gargash said on his Twitter page.

“We want good and strong relations with Ankara on the basis of respect, sovereignty and non-interference in Arab affairs. These principles must govern our behavior.”
