Top 5 cars to look out for in 2014

Car manufacturers have unveiled a plethora of new vehicles due for release throughout 2014.

All of these new motors endeavour to offer motorists stylistic elegance, technological advancements and dynamic power.

Here are five of these top cars to look out for in 2014, all of which promise to intrigue and exhilarate motorists worldwide.

BMW i8

The highly anticipated BMW i8 heralds a new era for hybrid electric cars. BMW have stated the i8 will be able to accelerate from 0-100km/h in a staggering 4.5 seconds as well as possessing capabilities of 362 PS of power and 570 Nm of torque.

What's more BMW have stated the i8 will come equipped with a plethora of cutting edge technological features, showcasing to other manufacturers the true potential of an electric car. With statements such as these, combined with BMW's sterling reputation of luxurious powerful vehicles, the i8 is an exciting prospect indeed.


Mazda MX-5 Roadster


The Mazda MX-5 Roadster showcases the company's expertise in combining efficiency with style. The MX-5 has a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine with the ability to accelerate from 0-60 mph in 8.2 seconds and achieve a top speed of 129mph.

Moreover, the MX-5 incorporates Mazda's exclusive range of Skyactiv technologies; from a lightweight Skyactiv chassis, 17 inch alloys, climate control, to heated leather seats and bright xenon headlights.

The MX-5 also boasts the credentials of being the roadster with the most efficient convertible roof; which can be raised or lowered in merely 12 seconds.

2014 Jaguar F-Type Roadster


Another roadster to keep an eye out for is the 2014 Jaguar F-Type Roadster; a vehicle which encapsulates the highly anticipated 2011 concept for the Jaguar C-X16. This F Type roadster features an immense supercharged 3.0litre v-6 engine with 380bhp, alongside at least one turbocharged 2.0 litre four cylinder.

Both of these engines will contain eight speed automatics with start stop technology, offering motorists raw power gilded in a luxuriously lightweight aluminium body.

Mercedes S-Class Coupe


The concept of this new model was first released at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2013 and motorists can look forward to its release in the summer of 2014.

This new S-Class model is set to replace the previous CL; launching a new sportier design with a modest boot spoiler and streamlined roofline. The S-Class Coupe will also encompass an impressive 4.7-litre V8 engine, capable of 449bhp and 700Nm of torque.

Moreover, there will be an AMG version with a 5.5-litre twin-turbo V8, capable of 577bhp. As well as formidable engine power, the S-Class Coupe is expected to come equipped with a comprehensive arsenal of technological additions; including Mercedes' Magic Body Control system and 6DVision set-up to monitors pedestrians and traffic. There are also highly anticipated rumours that this new model will debut with Mercedes’ innovative nine-speed automatic gearbox. Only time will tell!

2014 Ford Mondeo


This new generation of the Ford Mondeo marks a significant growth in both size and design. It boasts slim line adaptive LED headlights with a smoother rear bumper and slimmer rear lights; providing motorists with an eminently more stylish version of the previous Mondeo.

This new model will offer motorists improved technological capabilities; with an eight-inch colour touchscreen providing voice control and Wi-Fi connectivity for up to five devices, as well as a retractable panoramic glass roof and inflatable rear seatbelts.

As well as stylistic and technological improvements, Ford state this Mondeo will have improved fuel economy due to the instalment of a 1.0-litre Ecoboost engine with 125bhp and estimated CO2 emission figures of less than130g/km.

Furthermore, Ford have announced plans to release a hybrid petrol/electric four door version of this Mondeo. It would combine a 2.0 litre petrol engine with a 35kW and would mark Ford's first hybrid passenger car to be released in Europe.
