A family’s nightmare that has played out in shocking and excruciating detail on Facebook has finally come to a tragic end.
Baby Olivia Marie from Texas has died after her parents alleged that doctors botched her birth.
After spending five days on life support, during which her parents Rachel Melancon and Allen Coats, allowed pictures and updates of her on Facebook, the baby finally passed away the Asiaone website reported, quoting the New York Daily News.
On Saturday, Melancon and her fiancé Coats, held a funeral for their little girl.
According to media reports quoting relatives the baby’s spine and skull were allegedly cracked with forceps during delivery.
The birth was a C-section and her mother-in-law Angie Coats told ABC News that during the 18-hour labour, the doctor told Melancon the baby was facing the wrong way.
He then used a pair of forceps to pull the girl out.
"When he touched the top and side of the skull, we heard a pop, like clay cracking in pottery and heard her skull crush, " Angie Coats was quoted as saying.
