Two babies charred to death in Saudi house fire

Two girls under two years of age were charred to death after their little flat in Saudi Arabia was engulfed in fire while they were locked in their room by their parents who were out, a newspaper reported on Thursday.

Firefighters who managed to control the blaze in the apartment in the Western Red Sea port of Jeddah after nearly an hour found one girl on her bed and the other lying on the floor while their room door was locked.

“They were charred to death…there were on their own in the flat after their family locked the door and went out….this is an irresponsible behavior,” Ajel daily said, quoting civil defence spokesman Saeed Sirhan.
