The online visa application service for Britain will not be available tomorrow (Monday) from 7am to 1pm. During these hours it will not be possible to apply for a visa online.
“The Visa4UK website will be unavailable on 20 January between 11:00 until 17:00 hours (UK time) for essential maintenance,” posted the UK Border Agency (UKBA) on its website.
“During this time, applicants outside the UK will not be able to apply for a visa online using the Visa4UK service. We apologise for any inconvenience this will cause.”
The Visa4UK is the official online portal for visa applications from residents from most parts of the world. The website allows applicants to submit their visa, as well as pay for the application fee and make a follow up appointment at a local visa centre.
The website was recently refurbished, after which it crashed in November last year, reportedly due to heavy traffic to the new website.
About the shutdown, the UKBA noted that it is important that applicants ensure they have logged out of the site before shutdown time after saving the last page.
