US woman, 2 Gulf men at Taj Mahal hotel: What really happened?

It has all the elements of a classic Sunday afternoon gossip tale. Only the stark reality tells of a much more brutal reality.

An American woman, two Gulf nationals and the Taj Mahal hotel in Mumbai.

According to mid-day.com, the 52-year-old woman arrived in Mumbai from the US on February 22 and checked into the hotel, where she met one of the accused identified as Mohammed H (24), an Omani, at the bar.

They exchanged phone numbers and began texting and chatting and again at the Taj hotel on February 24.

On Wednesday night, at 12.43 am, the woman is believed to have invited Mohammed to her room for a drink.

At 1.20 am, she returns from the washroom to find another man, unknown to her, also in the room.

This man has been identified as Fahad A (44), from Saudi Arabia.

According to the Mid-Day report, Mohammed left the room, but Fahad stayed on.

When she asked him to leave, he grabbed her instead and molested her.

The woman tried to flee the room, but he pulled her back inside. Hotel security came to her rescue.

Both the men have since been arrested.
